Abstract

The periodical Proche-Orient Chrétien (POC) was founded in 1951, by the professors of Sainte-Anne's Greek Catholic Seminary in Jerusalem, which was directed by the White Fathers (Missionaries of Africa). Its publication and orientations were profoundly marked by the troubled history of the Middle East. From its beginning Christian Unity has been the main aim of POC, with a constant concern for the renewal of the Churches in fidelity to their ancient traditions and for their presence and service in the human societies of the Middle East. Interreligious dialogue, in particular the Muslim-Christian dialogue, is an essential dimension of the Christian presence in the region. From the beginning of the year 2015, the direction of POC has been transferred from the White Fathers in Jerusalem to the Faculty of Religious sciences of the Université Saint-Joseph, in Beirut, directed by the Jesuit Fathers.
