Abstract

In this study, we aim to conduct a perceptual experiment and a semiological reading of the aesthetics of space in the film “El Sounounou La Yamoutou Fil Kods” by Tunisian director Rida Behi. This film, produced in 1994, came as a
response to the accusation that Tunisian cinema ignored the Palestinian cause. It also combines three genres of cinematic practice, which are fiction, documentary and political. The film tells the story of the search for a mother who has been lost since 1948. A daily newspaper published a recent photo of this mother. the director takes her story as a starting point for a journey to restore the lost land, to search for the origin and identity and return to the roots.
We focused on activating the tripartite relationship between the aesthetics of space, the viewer's reception, and the semiology of the film, which we see as essential to determine the artistic value of the film model understudy. We have understood to some extent the philosophy of directing the work and its ability to direct the perception of the viewer and push him towards multiple readings, which are initially an understanding of the film language through sensory
monitoring of shots. The idea is to trigger mental images that evoke feelings.
