Abstract
Since Pierre Nautin’s influential book in 1977 no comparable effort has been made to rethink the chronology of Origen’s life and writings. Yet his reconstruction aroused criticism on many points , especially with regard to the dating and setting of the homilies. Nautin, who generally questions the narrative of Eusebius of Caesarea in the 6th book of the Ecclesiastical History, did not credit the story that Origen allowed the transcription of his sermons only at 60.
