Abstract
The study entitled Le phénomène Baudelaire dans la traduction (The Baudelaire phenomenon in translation) will be focused on the (re)translation of Charles Baudelaire’s work in Romanian, a phenomenon that should be investigated in the context of its production, including the socio-cultural environment. In the first part of the paper, we will try to sketch an answer concerning the impact of socio-cultural changes in translation, taking as support an overview on the translation’s history of Baudelaire in Romania. The second part will be dedicated to an investigation which had as purpose the examination of two research hypotheses: at the moment, translation is the primary way to introduce a foreign writer; retranslation is requested by the socio-cultural changes. The investigation will be supported by a questionnaire named: L’influence du milieu socio-culturel dans la réception de la traduction : la retraduction de l’œuvre de Charles Baudelaire en roumain – une nécessité ? (The impact of the socio-cultural environment in the translation’s reception: the retranslation of Charles Baudelaire’s creation in Romanian – a necessity?)
