Abstract

Words are at the heart of every reflection on the connection between thoughts and their translation into language and action. If asked about the roles words have, three options could loom in the horizon: the power of words, the simplicity of words, and the journey of words. The power of words sways between grandeur and decadence; the simplicity of words guarantees power and success; and the history of words overpasses several aspects of the unfamiliar journey of words, both diachronic and synchronic. We shall decipher these three aspects through concrete examples related to the different roles of words whether through the language conveyed or through the actions resulting from it.
