Navigating the Impasse: Challenges and Prospects for Catholic-Oriental Orthodox Dialogue

Abstract

This article examines the challenges facing the dialogue between the Catholic Church and the Oriental Orthodox Churches from a Coptic Orthodox perspective, drawing on the documents issued by the International Joint Commission and the decisions made by both parties over the last twenty-two years.
By highlighting convergences and identifying the underlying reasons for the lingering issues between the two parties, the article aims to provide a better understanding of the current challenges to the dialogue, while offering recommendations for advancing it.
