Abstract
The problem of the Ecumenical Councils, their number, authority and reception, was thoroughly discussed in the first three Pro-Oriente non-official consultations between Theologians of the Roman Catholic Church and the Oriental Orthodox Churches (Vienna 1971, 1973, 1976), especially during the second consultation.
