Abstract
Analyzing the theological dimension of the document “Synodality in the Life and Mission of the Church” of the International Theological Commission (itc), Galli states convincingly that the neologism synodality is not an institutional or operational novelty. Quoting basic paragraphs of the document and statements of Pope Francis, he points out how the itc is conceiving synodality as the Church living and working as People of God, realized in the communion of walking together, coming together in assembly and taking part together in proclaiming the Good News. This theological and ecclesiological understanding of synodality is coined by the Commission in the beautiful formula of “the synodal figure of the church”.
