Abstract

For the past few years Chile has gone through periods of social agitation to denounce the excesses of neoliberalism. The ideas put forward by the students, some opposition parties and a segment of the population take ontheir full dimensions if they are inscribed in the historical legacy linked to popular Unity. The songs and iconographic references that were heard and seen during the big movements and demonstrations during autumn 2019 echo the uncontrollable hope of « the thousand days that shook the world » This revolution conceptually in opposition to the twenty first century rebels has instilled a spirit of revolt that the procrastination of the liberal democracy of the transitional governments has failed to eradicate. The claims are the result of a social malaise, a lack of political responses and in order to be heard, the chosen strategies reawaken those specific to popular power in the Allende years.
