Abstract
Information and communication technologies have affected the work of banks and have generated profound structural changes. Around the world, banks face multiple challenges in adopting and integrating technological innovations and e-banking practices into their daily work. The aim of this article is to explore the challenges associated with the adoption of e-banking by the commercial banks in Lebanon. Using a qualitative approach, eight interviews were conducted with managers working in six commercial Lebanese banks. The qualitative study confirmed the role of certain factors from previous studies in the adoption of e-banking within the Lebanese context. In addition, the findings put the light on the organizational and regulatory problems faced by Lebanese banks in the integration of electronic banking services. They revealed the complexity of the changes to be made and the challenges to be raised for this sector that is in full process of technological development.
