Abstract
Since George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead in 1968, the zombie has become a horrific figure representative of a world turned upside down by a planetary catastrophe. The serial format to which it lends itself reveals both its expressive force and its suitability with companies in which crises and series are multiplying. Its exploitation by the cinema, the television series, the comic strip or the video game has amplified its influence on the collective imagination. We will use the television series The Walking Dead, not to analyze it, but to show how this series can be used as an example to illustrate the catastrophe.
