La présence vive de l’irrationnel dans le roman de science-fiction « Les Furtifs » d’Alain Damasio

Abstract

By drawing on the tools of dystopian science fiction that grant access to the irrational while preserving the closeness it establishes with the reader, Alain Damasio continues in Les Furtifs (2019) the elaboration of a definition of the living, an undertaking initiated in his earliest writings. Our human condition is questioned through a polyphonic narration in constant motion, where typography and linguistic invention continually adapt to the furtive presence of this hybrid being, eponymous character of the novel, whose existence escapes understanding and invites us to reconsider, through the prism of alterity, our own plurality. This approach enables the reader to free themselves from the limits of reason and to envisage a vivid presence that calls for an adaptation of our comprehension of the world, in order to access a more complex reality, as illustrated in the novel through a poetics of the irrational.
