Abstract

Going back to the historical context of the birth of Middle Eastern states and the nations building in the interwar period, this paper tries to explore the origins of the violence that characterizes the history of the Middle East in the 20th century and to the present day. The cases of Syria, Iraq, and Palestine are dealt with as well as the more specific case of Saudi Arabia.
