La toxine botulique: alternative thérapeutique dans la brycose

Résumé

Bruxism is characterized by centric and eccentric teeth grinding with intense static muscle forces respectively in the vertical and horizontal plane. This parafunction is usually treated with drugs for muscle relaxation and occlusal appliance. In some severe cases of bruxism these therapies are ineffective. The emergence of botulinum toxin and its use in various pathologies even in bruxism have transformed the quality of life of patients. In this work we emphasize the effect of the botulinum toxin while dis- cussing the etiology of bruxism and the mechanism of action of botulinum toxin in the treatment of severe bruxism.
