Tamara Sleiman is an instructor of linguistics at the American University of Beirut. Sleiman had been a researcher at the Arab Council for the Social Sciences and a research consultant at Asfari Institute for Civil Society and Citizenship at the American University of Beirut. Her research interests include sociolinguistics, sociophonetics, politics of language, and language policy and planning. She holds a Master of Arts in English Language from the American University of Beirut. She is now preparing her PhD in languages at the Faculty of Languages and Translation of Saint Joseph University of Beirut. Her research project is entitled: “Language Attitudes in Post-Civil War Beirut”.
